Search "party yacht rental Fort Lauderdale" and you'll see everything from 40-foot motor yachts to 100-foot superyachts. Search "party boat" and you'll see pontoons, tiki boats, and double-deckers. They can look similar in photos, but they're very different days on the water. Here's an honest breakdown from a captain who runs party pontoons.
If your group wants sandbars, swimming, floating mats, and waterslides, a party pontoon is almost always the better fit and the better value. If you want air-conditioned cabins, ocean cruising, and a formal crew, a yacht is the move.
This is the biggest difference. Yacht charters in Fort Lauderdale are usually priced well above pontoons once you add fuel, crew, and gratuity, and the bigger the yacht, the faster that climbs. Our pontoon charters start at $400 total for 2 hours, with fuel, cooler, and ice included. See full pricing.
This is where pontoons win outright. Fort Lauderdale's best party spots, Lake Sylvia and Whiskey Creek, are shallow. Pontoons draw very little water, so we can anchor right where your group can stand. Many yachts have to anchor farther off in deeper water.
Two of our boats have waterslides off the top deck, and all of them carry floating mats. On a pontoon, the water is the main event, not something you look at from the deck.
Each of our pontoons carries up to 13 guests. Larger groups can split across two boats and anchor together. Big yachts can carry more on one vessel, which matters for very large events like weddings.
Bachelorettes, birthdays, friend groups, and families who want to swim: book a pontoon. Our double-decker Boozy Barge is built for exactly this. Formal events, open-ocean runs, or trips to the Bahamas: book a yacht.
